Israeli protesters blocked aid trucks destined for Gazaon Monday, throwing food packages onto the road andripping bags of grain open in the occupied West Bank.

The lorries, which were set upon at the Tarqumiyacheckpoint west of Hebron, came from Jordan andwere heading to Gaza, where people are in desperate
need of humanitarian aid.

The White House has condemned the attack,describing the "looting" of aid convoys as "a total outrage".

The group reportedly behind the blockade said theywere protesting against the continued detention of Israeli hostages.

The action on the aid lorries comes just a day after theUnited Nations reported one of its staff members waskilled and another injured as they travelled to ahospital in southern Gazal on Monday.
