The story starts much the same as the entirety of the Guðrúnarhvöt, with Gudrun urging her sons on to avenge the killing of Svanhild. The boys go off in search of battle and vengeance, meeting their other brother Erp on the road, to which the kill him for cowardice. They come upon Ermaneric's abode, fighting on with great fervor, both boys falling all the while, getting their revenge.
