Different Cultures in Dreams

When everybody spoke the same language and God said, "No. We're going to separate you into different languages so you unify and build this great tower and try to become God yourself." Well, guess what? If you show up in fifth century BC with your cell phone and you show them a picture of a cat, they're not going to know what your phone is. They're not going to understand how you have the technology. But if you point to your phone, they're going to know what you're talking about. They knew what cats were back in the day. In fact, they worshiped them. But if you show them a picture of a cat, they're going to know what you're talking about. They won't be able to say it, they won't mean the same thing to them. It may mean a deity to them, and it may mean a house cat to you, but they're going to know. That's the power of the figurative language. Anyone at any place, at any time, in any culture, you can draw a picture of a mountain. They know what mountains are, they've seen mountains. They have history with mountains, right? That's the beauty of the figurative language.
