🍎 HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP 🥞

This post aims to educate everyone on how food in the supermarket is marketed. There are no intentions of ridiculing any person or group of people. I believe the best way to change society is to educate rather than ridicule.

High-fructose corn syrup (HFCS) is an artificial sugar made from corn syrup (55% fructose, 45% glucose). In excessive amounts, calories from fructose get stored as fat. Fructose from fruits, in moderation, gets digested slowly due to the mix of fiber and water. Thus, our metabolism can handle it without much issue. However, high quantities of fructose, particularly HFCS, can trick our bodies into thinking we are still hungry. Any excess will shunted into the liver and end up as fat. This phenomenon is why we tend to say, “Do not drink your calories,” regarding fruit smoothies. You can overload your system with fructose and calories you may not need. Having a large amount of fructose in your diet chronically can lead to fatty liver and diabetes

When it comes to sugar as a whole, I recommend as low as possible if you need to drop weight or fat. The added sugars can be insidious if you are not paying attention to your food packaging. Be mindful of these ingredients and numbers to avoid the sugar trap.
