Deus Ex: Invisible War (PC) Gameplay -No Commentary- (Radeon Super Resolution upscale, RSR)

I may be in the minority here, but I love Deus Ex: Invisible War. Now, before DX fans get their pitchforks out, I love this game, because I played it on the Xbox, and not the PC. That alone would give me a more favorable opinion of the game. The PC version had some technical issues, and the hud itself favors the Xbox controller, and doesn't make a whole lot of sense to PC gamers.

Yes, Invisible War watered down the deep gameplay of the original PC version, but I played the PS2 version of the game first, and then went back and bought the PC version, and some of the elements were already changed/ watered down in the PS2 port. In fact, the PS2 port of the original Deus Ex is the link in the puzzle of what happened from the original DX to Invisible War.

I love the PS2 port of the original DX as well. Yes, the PC version is king, but I will always have a soft spot for the PS2 version of the game, and even like the inventory system better. In the PC version, I always feel like I have to stop and manage my inventory every few steps (why do all the enemies in the game carry combat knives?). The PS2 version was the first to get rid of the individual limb damage before Invisible War, which I don't mind.

It was a cool idea, but in practice, there's nothing like having to slow crawl in the PC version because one of your legs is dead, but the rest of your body is fine. I didn't personally miss the individual limb damage system, but I understand why people did.

The shared ammo system in Invisible War was dumb, but as you can see, I find it more useful to use melee weapons in this game, especially if you equip the EMP biomod where your attacks do EMP damage against bots. Honestly, the only time in the game I felt I needed to use the guns heavily is at the end since you have those guys who explode when they die. Super annoying.

Other than that, I love the atmosphere in IW, the graphics for the time were beautiful, especially for Xbox standards, and the story is deep. There is are still tons of hidden paths and alternative routes to find, and while IW isn't as deep or as good as the original, I still love this game in it's own right. This was one of the games I bought an Xbox for, so for me it, it represents one of my core Xbox experiences, and I will always love this game. It's not perfect, but I still love it.
