The Prophecies of Sir Winston Churchill

Sir Winston Leonard Spencer-Churchill was the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1940 to 1945 and again from 1951 to 1955. Widely regarded as one of the greatest wartime leaders of the 20th century, Churchill was also an artist, a historian, and a writer. He is the only British Prime Minister in history to have received the Nobel Prize in Literature. But Churchill was also a most uncanny prophet. He predicted the invention of the atomic bomb; atomic powered electrification and the risks to humanity that came with this; bioengineering of crops and animals; and television, which when it became a reality he detested. But it is his carefully worded predictions about the role and responsibilities of science which are perhaps of most import at this crucial moment.
