Dogs jump for a lot of reasons and it is always funny and interesting to see what makes them excited. The little wiry-haired terrier in this clip apparently loves and gets excited by running water. While his owner is cleaning the kitchen he must run in every time and jump up in the air to see the faucet spewing water. We wonder if he does do it every time because his owner just keeps cleaning as though this is a common day for her.

We do like how she and the dog turn into a metronome of sorts. You could probably practice music to this video if it had the metronome beat. Outside of the video we were curious as to why dogs jump in excitement. Obviously, the little dog in this video has to jump because he can’t see the running water. So, his jumps are for him to see the water. Globally, though, why do dogs jump on people and in excitement. We read a few articles and it turns out that dogs leap for almost the same reason this little dog is jumping to see the water.

Dogs great each other by sniffing their faces. When they jump on people they are trying to get a good sniff in. It is also a way to show dominance in a group. Basically, being higher than another dog or human is way to show alphaness. At the same time, kisses and licks are a way to show submission and love. The last reason we read about is that because they are trying to maintain control in uncomfortable situations. It could be a nervous or fearful response to someone or something that they do not recognize.
