Man Accidentally Buries Self And Tractor In Sand

Nobody enjoys getting their vehicle stuck in mud, snow, or in this case, loose sand. It can be hard work to remove yourself from the quagmire. And people come up with some insane ways to do so.

This farmer is in a big yellow tractor that he is trying to get unstuck from loose sand…

I have quite a few questions about this video. Never having operated a tractor before, I’m just trying to figure out why he has large logs chained to his rear wheels. The only thing that I can think of is that he is trying to use the logs as leverage. You can see that when he revs up the engine and gets the wheels moving, the logs dig huge, deep furrows into the ground. My assumption is that he was trying to use that sudden digging as a leverage to pop the tractor out of the sand. That or create a ground that the wheels could latch on to so that he could drive out.

We were NOT all at sure what to expect from his attempts, but it wasn’t THAT!

I would love to hear thoughts from anyone who has an idea of what the purpose of the logs was supposed to be. Clearly, it did not work as it ended up sinking the tires further into the ground, and in the end just churning sand up and all over the place and semi-burying the farmer. You can kind of see that the far log is in the one that flings everything up into the air as it digs through the sand on that side. The close log has more firm ground to dig into.
