The Southwest plane involved in a deadly incident earlier this week was piloted by a woman with ties to the Kansas City metro area. Tammie Jo Shults graduated from MidAmerica Nazarene University in 1983, and is one of the first women to fly an F-15 fighter jet for the Navy. Many have commended her handling of the emergency situation that arose when an engine on her flight failed.
