California mocked over ‘billion-dollar’ 0.3-mile bridge that goes nowhere

Back in 2008, the Golden State was excited to announce the launch of its publicly funded ‘world-class’ high-speed rail system that would connect Los Angeles to San Francisco.

Despite initial funding being approved nearly two decades ago, construction is still in the earliest stage and is expected to cost over $100 billion in total.

Yet, the lack of achievement didn’t stop the California High-Speed Rail Authority from praising itself when it recently publicized one of the completed sections of construction, which was finished in 2018 and cost $1 billion on its own.

It didn’t take long for online critics to notice and ridicule this construction milestone, with Elon Musk and Dogecoin creator Billy Markus ripping the state authority for boasting about building a 'bridge to nowhere.’

‘It takes about 5 minutes to walk 1600 feet so a high speed rail for that is a really big deal. California is so competent,’ the Dogecoin creator Billy Markus wrote on X.
