UN agency closes East Jerusalem HQ after arson attack

The UN agency for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA, faced repeated attacks at its East Jerusalem headquarters, prompting its temporary closure.

Israeli residents set fire to the compound, leading to extensive damage, while protests outside turned violent.

The attacks followed months of tension, with accusations against UNRWA including collaboration with Hamas. Israel’s denial of entry to Gaza for UNRWA officials added to the strain, The Guardian has reported.
