Steve Bannon likely heading to jail after appeals court upholds his conviction

Former chief strategist of Donald Trump, Steve Bannon, is facing the likelihood of prison time after an appeals court upheld his conviction for contempt of Congress.

Bannon had been sentenced to four months in 2022 for refusing to testify in a congressional investigation into the January 6 Capitol attack, but the sentence was on hold pending his appeal.

The decision came on Friday when the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals rejected his challenge, affirming that Bannon’s non-compliance was deliberate, despite his claims of acting in good faith based on legal advice.

Bannon’s refusal to testify was part of a broader trend among Trump allies, who cited executive privilege.

However, the court found no merit in Bannon’s arguments and affirmed his conviction, the Daily Mail has reported.
