The UN General Assembly has voted overwhelmingly to support Palestine’s bid for full UN membership, indicating growing global isolation for Israel amid concerns over the Gaza conflict and the humanitarian crisis.

The resolution passed with 143 votes in favor, 9 against, and 25 abstentions, urging the Security Council to grant Palestine full membership and enhance its current observer status with new rights and privileges.

Israel strongly opposed the resolution, with its envoy to the UN delivering a fiery denunciation. Despite not granting voting rights, the vote reflects widespread support for Palestinian statehood.

The US, along with a few other countries, opposed the resolution, while the UK abstained, The Guardian has reported.
