The US government has said Israel may have usedAmerican-supplied weapons in breach of internationalhumanitarian law in its war in Gaza.

The State Department says it is "reasonable to assess"that US-supplied arms were used in ways"inconsistent" with Israel's obligations.

The report, ordered by the White House, wassubmitted to Congress on Friday. It says the USgovernment doesn't have "complete information" to verify its assessment.

However it says that given Israel's significant relianceon US-made weapons "it is reasonable to assess" thatthey had been used since October 7 "in instancesinconsistent with its IHL obligations or withestablished best practices for mitigating civilian harm".
