Following the announcement of the upcoming Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, Warner Bros. Discovery decided to copyright strike a 15 year old fan film of the same title.

The fan film uploaded to the YouTube page Independent Online Cinema had received over 13 million views since the video was uploaded. On their personal website they highlight positive quotes from media outlets around the world as well as awards their film has received. Since the short film follows the appendices of The Lord of the Rings it seems like Warner Bros. submitted their copyright strike to YouTube since the upcoming movie written by Peter Jackson and directed by Andy Serkis will follow a similar plot. The short film can still be viewed on other sites.
