The Perfect Blend of Sweet and Sour: A Beirut Bliss Recipe
Beirut Bliss Recipe: A Taste of Sunshine in a Glass
This refreshing mocktail captures the vibrant spirit of Beirut with its citrusy burst, a hint of floral magic, and a bubbly finish.
Ingredients:
• 2 wedges grapefruit
• 2 wedges blood orange
• 1/2 ounce rosewater
• Chilled sparkling water, to top
• Ice cubes
• Optional garnish: Mint sprig or edible flower petal
Instructions:
1. Prep the Citrus:
o Wash and dry the grapefruit and blood orange.
o Cut them into wedges, removing any seeds if possible.
2. Muddle the Magic:
o Place the grapefruit and blood orange wedges in a cocktail shaker.
o Using a muddler (or the end of a wooden spoon in a pinch), gently press down on the fruit to release the juices and essential oils. Don't overdo it, or your drink might become bitter.
3. Add the Floral Touch:
o Pour in the rosewater. A little goes a long way, so start with 1/2 ounce and adjust to your taste.
4. Shake it Up!:
o Fill the shaker with ice cubes.
o Secure the lid tightly and shake vigorously for 10-15 seconds. This will further release the flavors and chill the drink.
5. Time for the Fizz:
o Strain the mixture into a chilled glass filled with fresh ice cubes.
6. Top it Off:
o Gently top the drink with chilled sparkling water, leaving a little room at the top.
7. Garnish and Enjoy!
o For an extra touch of Beirut flair, garnish your Beirut Bliss with a mint sprig or a delicate edible flower petal (like a rose petal or a pansy).
8. Sip and Savor:
o Take a sip and be transported to the vibrant city of Beirut! The citrusy tang will dance on your tongue, followed by a subtle floral note from the rosewater and a refreshing bubbly finish from the sparkling water.
Tips:
• Chill both the sparkling water and the glass beforehand for an extra refreshing Beirut Bliss.
• Want a boozy twist? Add a shot of your favorite vodka, gin, or tequila after muddling the fruit.
• Feeling adventurous? Muddle some fresh herbs like mint or rosemary with the fruit for a unique flavor profile.
• Adjust the amount of rosewater to your taste preference.
• Feel free to substitute grapefruit and blood orange for other citrus fruits like clementines or tangerines.
