The UK announced the expulsion of Russia’s defence attache in London on May 8, accusing him of being a spy. Addressing the Parliament, Cleverly said that Britain would also remove diplomatic status from some Russian properties in the UK and limit the length of Russian diplomatic visas. The measures were the latest step in response to a "pattern of alleged Russian malign activity across the UK and Europe." The Home Office said the move was in a bid to "target and dismantle Russian intelligence-gathering operations." This comes after five people were charged with conspiring to commit espionage activities in the UK on behalf of Russia under the National Security Act. Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said the UK “resorts to blatant lies to justify anti-Russian measures.” Watch the video to find out more.
