Our Star Sending Us CMEs

Our sun spat out many M and X class flares over the past couple days. Some of these have CMEs directed at Earth. Corona Mass Ejections (CMEs) are large explosions of plasma / energetic particles and are interwoven with the magnetic field from the Sun. They react with our magnetic field and atmosphere. They cause the aurora and also can cause severe damage to electrical systems in severe storms. There are also effects on communication systems, computers, animals, and terrestrial weather.

Aurora may be viewable from latitudes south of 45 north this weekend.
