Ukraine orders nationwide electricity rationing after Russian airstrikes

Russian missiles and drones targeted nearly a dozen Ukrainian energy infrastructure sites, causing significant damage to three Soviet-era thermal power plants and leading to blackouts in multiple regions.

Ukraine’s air force claimed to have shot down a considerable number of missiles and drones used in the attack, although casualties were reported in the Kyiv and Kirovohrad regions.

Energy Minister German Galushchenko condemned the attack, highlighting its impact on the energy industry.

Power generation and transmission facilities in several regions were targeted, prompting a rapid response from rescue teams to minimize damage.

The national power grid operator implemented electricity cut-offs in multiple regions, urging consumers to limit power usage, Reuters reported.
