Here, David has been told by God that he cannot build the temple, because of the amount of blood he’d shed in battle. So Solomon, his son, will build the temple. A magnificent marvel of a structure to house the Ark, and all the furnishings. There is a tremendous quantity of precious metals, timber and more, to use in the construction. We also read of those leaders involved during the transfer of power to Solomon, and the peace that God promises to Solomon during his reign- that will be “forever,” a prophecy regarding a physical lineage that will end with Jesus, who is still alive and reigning today.
