Artemisinin: A Cancer Smart Bomb by Len Saputo, MD

Wormwood is a Chinese herb that is thousands of years old that has applications for malaria and cancer treatment. It is safe, easy to use, affordable, and has great promise in the treatment of cancer. Cancer cells and bacteria accumulate iron far more than normal cells. Artemisinin works in the presence of iron to create free radicals that kill cells that hoard iron. Leukemia cells concentrate iron 1000 times normal lymphocytes and breast cancer concentrates iron 15 times a normal breast cell.

There are three forms of wormwood extract: artemisinin, artsunate, and artemether. It can be given either orally or by rectal suppository and should be pulsed with several days on and several off if taken by mouth because of intestinal tolerance. Curt Michael Graydon’s Artemisinin Cancer Protocol:

The artemisinin produces two oxygen atoms in the presence of high concentrations of iron (prevalent in cancer cells and viruses) and destroys the cancer cell within 16 hours through a process called ferraptosis. It’s the same process that has made artemisinin the number one treatment for malaria worldwide as both cancer cells and viruses sequester iron at concentrations that are thousands of times greater than normal cells.

Artemisinin is activated by haem, an animal based iron containing compound. Recent research shows that cancer cells have higher haem levels as compared to the non-cancer cells, in addition to an elevated haem biosynthesis pathway. Artemisinin has an endoperoxide moiety that forms powerful free radicals in the presence of high levels of iron destroying cancer cell membranes. And when activated by haem in cancer cells, artemisinin attacks more than 300 proteins, several of which are essential for the survival of cancer cells, causing almost complete apoptosis.

The only side effects of taking artemisinin are pain at the site of the tumours (a sign of rapid contraction which is a good thing although the bone pain can be horrendous for some) and usually extreme fatigue and possible nausea caused by the cancer cell die off symptoms. As well, sometimes artemisinin can cause an increase in urine production called diuresis which is a condition in which the kidneys filter too much bodily fluid and thereby produce an excess of urine. And, artemisinin can also cause natriuresis which is the process of sodium excretion in the urine through the action of the kidneys meaning that one must monitor urine colour while on the protocol. Dark urine will be a sign of either or both kidney stress or dehydration. The fix is easy as all you have to do is drink more water and take in more sodium or temporarily stop the protocol until urine colour returns to normal.
