You're about to hear this awe-inspiring story of faith, courage, and the power of patient advocacy. Join me as I sit down with my ER patient, Chrissie, and her husband Aaron, a 23-year Navy veteran, where we delve into their journey of facing adversity head-on, navigating the consequences of standing up for their beliefs, and the profound impact of their unwavering commitment to each other. We explore the complexities of loyalty, sacrifice, and the unbreakable bond that defines their shared resilience.

I met Chrissie working in the ER and was the nurse assigned to her care. Chrissie recognized me as the nurse whistleblower and today we talked about our encounter and her experience as a patient.

As many of you know I returned to the bedside a couple of months ago after 2.5 years since blowing the whistle. After releasing my protected disclosure I had more than a dozen complaints against my license. I was ordered to complete a formal ethics evaluation in which I was deemed ethical in my disclosure and my license intact.

I thought I would never be able to return to this setting since many of my beliefs don’t match up with allopathic medicine anymore. but as God would have it, this hospital checked all the boxes and I accepted a position.

My heart has always been drawn to being a staunch patient advocate and caring for their mind, body, and spirit regardless of their beliefs. Tune in to witness what patient advocacy, shared decision-making, and informed holistic care look and feel like!

Next week, in part 2 of this continuing conversation, we highlight her husband Aarons's journey of being a military veteran forced into early retirement after 23 years of service for refusing the COVID-19 vaccine.
