Lightning strikes during the eruption of Guatemala's most active volcano Lightning struck directly into the crater of the Volcano of Fire, in Guatemala, as it erupted. A video shared on social media shows the exact moment of impact, which caused the sky to light up for a few seconds. You can also hear the violent explosion as the mountain spews pyroclastic material and lava. The spectacular images surprised people who were observing the activity of the Volcano of Fire, which has intensified its activity in recent days. According to Guatemala's National Institute of Seismology, Volcanology, Meteorology and Hydrology, the volcano currently records "weak, moderate and strong explosions" at a rate of 4 to 10 explosions per hour, "raising columns of gas and ash to heights of 4,500 to 5,000 meters above sea level".
