Hormel Foods Sales LLC, based in Minnesota, has issued a recall for two Planters products produced at one of its facilities due to potential contamination that could lead to fatal infections.

The affected products, Honey Roasted Peanuts and Deluxe Lightly Salted Mixed Nuts, were distributed to Publix warehouses in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, and North Carolina, as well as Dollar Tree warehouses in South Carolina and Georgia.

The contamination with listeria monocytogenes, discovered after production and distribution in April, poses a risk particularly to vulnerable populations such as young children, elderly individuals, and those with weakened immune systems.

Symptoms of listeria infection include high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Pregnant women are at risk of miscarriages or stillbirths if infected.

The recall is limited to specific package sizes and UPC codes, with detailed information provided for consumers to identify the affected products, Fox Business reported.
