Sadiq Khan Re-elected Mayor of London in Latest Win for Labour

Sadiq Khan, the two-term center-left mayor of London, secured his third consecutive victory in the mayoral election with a wider margin than expected.

Khan, representing the Labour Party, first assumed office in 2016, making history as London’s first Muslim mayor.

Despite predictions of a potentially tight race, Khan won over 43% of the vote, surpassing his opponent Susan Hall of the Conservative Party who secured around 32%.

The election took place amidst setbacks for the Conservatives in other local and mayoral contests.

Khan’s victory comes despite challenges such as changes in the electoral system and requirements for voter photo ID, DNYUZ has reported.
