UK Green Party councilor shouts ‘Allahu Akbar’ after being elected

A politician in Leeds had a rather unorthodox celebration upon being elected as a member of the council. 42-year-old Mothin Ali won his seat with 3,070 votes, many of which were from people who felt ‘let down’ by the ruling Labour council. Ali, an accountant who has lived in the area for 20 years, unseated the Labour candidate thanks to a mixture of disaffected voters, a pro-Palestine ticket, and being extremely active on TikTok.

Upon being announced the winner, Ali shouted, ‘We will not be silenced. We will raise the voice of Gaza. We will raise the voice of Palestine. Allahu Akbar!’
We assume he will also ‘raise the voice’ of Leeds – where he lives.
