Update: PlayStation folds on mandatory accounts and goes back to business as usual. Gamers win because gamers didn't give up! This is a huge victory!

Helldivers 2 has been the biggest game of 2024, only to become the biggest disaster in gaming in 2024 in a few short days. Sony demanding Steam players sign up for a frequently hacked PSN account to continue to play the game is a monumentally dim idea, considering over 170 Countries do not have access to PSN. It's false advertising and shady business practices that create the an immediate backlash that a game, studio or company cannot hope to recover from.

Couple this disaster with a Community Management team that is as inept as you can possibly get and this is not a disaster that will clear up anytime soon or be fixed to return the game to it's astronomical heights from a short few days ago.
