In a story which made national headlines, Colorado mom, Cynthia Abcug was arrested in the relatively quiet town of Kalispell, Montana, on December 30, 2019. Her arrest was based on an Affidavit out of Colorado which accused her of conspiracy to commit child kidnapping. Cyndie’s arrest ended the last leg of a harrowing journey that began in September of 2019 and literally crisscrossed the country from Colorado, to Wisconsin, to Virginia, to Arkansas and finally ending in Kalispell with her arrest. During almost that entire time, Cyndie was accompanied and protected by a final year medical student named, Joseph Ramos. Joseph reached out to Cyndie, from one human to another, to offer some cash and support. What happened after is something out of a spy novel. Joseph sat down with me in my studio to recount, in his own words, the events that have forever changed his life.
