John Leguizamo: Univision Has Been ‘Insidious’ at Pushing Trump to Spanish-Speaking only Latinos

COLBERT: “You also wrote this in the Los Angeles Times recently, this was in November. You wrote this opinion piece there, it says ‘Cozying up to Trump, Univision is betraying its Spanish-speaking viewers.’ How so?”
LEGUIZAMO: “Well, it’s kind of insidious because Spanish-speaking-only Latinos watch Univision and that’s where they get all their news and information. So, you should be impartial. You should be non-partisan. And they are not. It’s problematic to me.”
COLBERT: “Are they right-wing in some way?”
LEGUIZAMO: “Well, I have spoken off the record with some of the newscasters and they said that they were leaning — they were pushing them right way and they had Trump on. They softballed the whole questions. They wouldn’t allow Biden commercials on. Then they didn’t have Biden on for a long, long time. So I had to call them out on it. I called them out and their marketing people called me back.”
COLBERT: “What did they say?
LEGUIZAMO: “They said, ‘It’s not true. You know, we are not really — we are doing every thing we can to be nonpartisan.’ But I’m like, ‘Yo, how are you doing all these things that are not — that are leaning very MAGA?’ You need to be non-partial, otherwise I’m going to call you out again. So, I won’t be on Univision. I won’t be — they have the highest-rated Spanish language show. So I won’t be on ‘La flaca de gorda.’”

COLBERT: “That’s too bad.”
LEGUIZAMO: “For them.”
COLBERT: “What does that mean?”
LEGUIZAMO: “‘The Skinny and the Fat One.’ See, it plays better in Spanish. Because she’s skinny and he’s heavier.”
COLBERT: “He’s far. I get the idea.”
LEGUIZAMO: “You’re very sharp.”
COLBERT: “Thank you very much.”
LEGUIZAMO:” You’re from the Midwest, right?”
COLBERT: “I’m from South Carolina.”
LEGUIZAMO: “Oh, even sharper.”
COLBERT: “Yes.”
