Spend 20 minutes handshaping a 4’6” ZORCH concept surfboard, twin fin or quad fin fish.

Peer through the doorway of the shaping room as Proctor shapes a one-off concept board for a remote client who attends the design session through skype.

The board is a 4’6” x 19 3/4” x 2 1/2” 31L brainstorm he’s calling the ‘Zorch’. It has a multiplicity of personalities, of which the foremost is a futuristic fish operating off hydrofoil principles, but can also be ridden prone or as a finless. The long watch is an extended cut, but one that lets you fully immerse in the entire process that takes place behind the four blue walls of the shaping room. Shot on location in Ventura, CA, this piece reveals what it takes for human hands to forge a uniquely one-of-a-kind craft.
