Arnie, a three-banded armadillo, is a unique species of armadillo, known for its unique features such as a bone shell, a carapace, a sticky tongue, and a strong sense of smell. They live in underground burrows, with tunnels leading to over 12 entrances to the surface. A litter of armadillos can range from one to 12 pups, with a typical birth of four genetically identical pups. Arnie sleeps 16 hours a day and enjoys looking for food in his tunnel. He is also the official state animal of Texas and is known for his swimming skills and ability to hold breath for up to six minutes at a time.
