Surveillance video showing the horrific death of Alisia DeCoteau at the Ellis Court Apartments in Seattle last month. Rickesha Denise Overton was charged with Murder in the First Degree and Assault in the Second Degree. Court documents show the women knew each other and were friends at one point. But witnesses say they were arguing that evening. As for the shooting, the surveillance video shows Overton's gun jamming as she allegedly tries to fire more shots Cons sav she also pointed the pistol at horrified neighbors before officers arrived.

The suspect initially told officers, "She came into my apartment. It was self-defense. I had to shoot her." But later told police, "She's not even dead." "I don't care if you give me life. I just want to go to Alisia's funeral," Overton added. Authorities say this was not the first time Overton allegedly attacked DeCoteau. Reports show cops were called to the same apartment building on January 1st, 2024 at about 2:35 p.m. and arrested Overton for assaulting DeCoteau.

DeCoteau leaves behind a sister who she was very close with. She also had other loved ones, friends, and a young daughter.
