Balancing Sports, Education, and Life Lessons with Kids

Life as a parent intertwines with my professional world in surprising ways. My kids, Maven and Max, are not just growing up; they're excelling as young athletes with a keen interest in soccer. Our conversations often revolve around their future, probing deep questions about colleges and potential soccer careers. Recently, they asked where I went to college, leading to a heartfelt discussion about my path.

I shared with them my time at Palm Beach College, a community college, and how I didn't follow the traditional route to graduation. This opened up a chance to talk about the value of different types of education—how street smarts and a strong work ethic often hold as much weight, if not more, than formal education. It’s a blend of knowing how to navigate the world, dedication, and continuous learning that has guided my journey.

These discussions with my sons are precious. They're not just about guiding them academically but also about instilling values that prepare them for all aspects of life, be it on the soccer field, in the classroom, or beyond. As a father, my goal is to support their dreams with real-world insights, encouraging them to build resilience, think critically, and value diverse experiences. These moments of connection are what make the hustle worthwhile, blending lessons from the pitch and boardroom to life’s everyday play.
