US Very Concerned as China-Russia Strengthen Their Military Ties!

As tensions rise between the US and China over the Ukraine war, Russia and China are standing firm in their alliance.

Defense ministers of both nations have emphasized their close bilateral ties, sending a clear message to the world. But what are the strategic implications of this military cooperation? And how does it fit into the larger geopolitical context? The US has long been the dominant power in the world, but this alliance between Russia and China is shifting the balance of power.

As argued in my Russia book, The Dynamics of Russia’s Geopolitics: Remaking the Global Order, the importance of analyzing the Sino-Russian partnership centers on how this relationship will develop into a strategic challenge for the United States. That in turn will have serious consequences for the U.S. in Central Asia and the Pacific realm. Some argue that bad blood between Russia and China prevents them from coming together. While this assertion is true given the history between the two powers, coming together as one force makes sense for both Beijing and Moscow. The outcome: a direct global military challenge to the United States will then come from the north, east and west.

This alliance could reshape the global order, challenging the US-led world order that has been in place since the end of the Cold War.
