Let’s start with the recent US Congress approved ‘military aid package to Ukraine’. Usually the big numbers make the headlines, but, how will that big cake be cut up, and who will ultimately eat it? A CNN report captures all the themes we are tackling today where it indicates Biden signed into law, a bill, for military assistance to Ukraine, Israel, and the Indo-pacific, which also coincidentally includes the clauses that may eventually lead to the banning of TikTok in the USA.

But then we also look at how the billions to Ukraine mostly flow back to the military-industrial complex in the USSA. While in Russia, on 1 May, a special exhibit of captured NATO/US/UK/etc armour like tanks and APCs etc etc will open to mark Victory Day, so now we know US money is going to fund blown out showpieces in Moscow. Oops
Cognitive war

The story of cognitive war got inspired by the recent US decision, as reported in the NYT, to force Bytedance, the Chinese owner of TikTok to wholly sell its US stake, or, to face a ban in the USA. Roughly speaking TikTok/Bytedance have about 9 months to sell its stake in the US operation, or, face a ban.

Then we go back to 2023, and article in The Guardian (UK), that argues, TikTok is actually a platform, and integral part of China’s global Cognitive Warfare operations. So, what is cognitive war?
