Hillsborough Special Called School Board Meeting. On the agenda:
2 book challenges
1. Identical by Ellen Hopkins
2. Blankets by Craig Thompson
The meeting was called to order at 1 pm Monday April 29
Public speakers were each given 2 mins to comment on the book materials.
The board then underwent final discussion and a vote was taken on each book individually.
The final voting ruled by a 5 to 2 margin that both books are to be retained in the Hillsborough public school libraries.
Only members Patti Rendon and Stacy Hahn voted in favor of removing both books.
The meeting was adjourned at approximately 2:48 pm.
