MSNBC Velshi Praises Trump's Sex Trafficking Bill, "Remarkable Significance"
Trump, joined by a group of women and members of Congress in the Oval Office, signed the “Fight Online Sex Trafficking Act of 2017.”
“I want to thank the survivors and families who join us today. I’m signing this bill in your honor,” he said. “You’re very brave.”
To victims of sex trafficking, the president pledged to protect them. “You’ve endured what no person on Earth should ever have to endure, and we’re going to do everything in our power to make sure that traffickers are brought to a swift and firm justice.”
Velshi cut away from the president’s remarks to praise the bill, saying it had a “remarkable significance.”
“This is a major step forward in the protection of the trafficking of children on sites like Backpage and across the internet,” he said.
