The process timeline begins with the filing of Petition for Probate. Traditionally, this would take about 8 weeks. As of January 2022, we’re seeing hearing dates of 3 to 4 months out.

The following are issued at this hearing- Letters of Administration, Orders for Probate, and/or Letters Testamentary.

Once an Executor or Administrator are named, assets such as real estate can be sold. After receiving an offer, a petition is filed for a Confirmation of Sale hearing, which was about 8 weeks from filing, now several months. The judge will then process the Confirmation of Sale Order.

When received, the real estate portion can close. The Final Distribution can take another 2 months or more.
