Deadpool Director Trying to Bring New Audience to Marvel

Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy says people do not have to have seen anything else in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, MCU, in order to see his upcoming Deadpool film.

Shawn Levy said the goal of his movie was to make something the fans of the MCU fan enjoy, but something still accessible for newcomers. This way audiences don’t feel like they need to get caught up on anything prior to the new release. This is a decent approach for Marvel since they have lost a huge chunk of their audience thanks to their mishandling of the MCU following Avengers Endgame. This can almost be seen as Marvel accepting they are not getting their old audience back; however, it’s up in the air whether this new audience will stick around.
