Uguressa is scientifically called as “ Flacourtia indica ” .

ORIGIN OF UGURESSA FRUIT
Flacourtia genus Salicaceae family, Uguressa is a species of flowering plant native to Africa and tropical and temperate parts of Asia. It is available from Tropical Africa, South Africa, Madagascar, Swaziland, India, Indo-china, Sri Lanka, China and Indonesia.

APPEARANCE OF UGURESSA FRUIT
Uguressa resembles the English plum and looks like a small berry.
Uguressa is very fleshy and has 6 to 10 seeds in layered carpels. Seeds 5—8, 8—10 mm long,4—7 mm broad.The Uguressa pulp is yellow or white and sweet with an acidic tang.

TASTES OF UGURESSA FRUIT
The Uguressa fruit is eaten ripe and tastes slightly sour, astringent and is not that sweet.
