Another Episode of Bad Acting 101, Featuring John Wayne. We'll get this out of the way now, he is not a terrible actor. However he has left plenty examples of bad acting for our viewing pleasure, such as 1956's The Conqueror. In that movie he plays himself pretending to be Genghis Khan. This is something that was made for real and got a theatrical release. It would be a career killer for most.

John Wayne, born Marion Robert Morrison, rose to fame in the golden age of Hollywood, becoming one of the most iconic actors of all time. With his rugged good looks, towering presence, and distinctive drawl, Wayne embodied the quintessential American hero on screen. However, as his career progressed, some critics began to claim that Wayne's performances lacked depth and subtlety, leading to accusations of laziness on his part.

One of the main arguments against John Wayne as a lazy actor is his tendency to rely on mannerisms and stereotypes in his performances. Critics have pointed out that Wayne often played the same character in multiple films, with little variation in his delivery or demeanor. His reliance on familiar tropes, such as the stoic cowboy or the tough military man, led some to accuse him of phoning in his performances rather than fully immersing himself in his roles.
