Episode 128: Headmaster's Homeroom w/Guest: Artist; Kristopher Petrenko

Kristopher J. Petrenko, is a Cleveland artist and Cleveland Institute of Art graduate (’03). His upbringing in the rust-belt (son of a steelworker) and love of industrial art was a natural catalyst for his works on wood/steel/glass.
Petrenko creates works that utilize a variety of subject matters, which include still life, cityscapes, nature and industrial photography.
All images are tied to an idea of transforming re-purposed materials into
a connection between natural and industrial. Images are transferred by hand to materials from the location that the photo was taken. He then paints these works using different layers of colored stain.
His work pays respect to the industrial rust-belt where he was born.
