Just like most cats, longhair cats don't like getting wet, and that can be a problem when it comes to drinking. Check out slow motion video of this fluffy Ragdoll cat to see how does he stay dry while drinking water. So cute!
Cats have been part of human lives for thousands of years, and no matter how much we know about them, they still keep amazing us. One of their arguably most known, and yet contradictory, characteristics is that they don't like water and hate getting wet. But, at the same time, they still need to it to stay alive. If you ever wonder how do they do it and stay dry in the process you are not the only one. Owner of Jeremy the Ragdoll cat had the same question in his mind when he put the camera next to the water bowl and set it to film a slow-motion video of him drinking water. Slow motion video is particularly interesting in this case to slow down the fast movement of cats tongue and fully appreciate it's skill. Jeremy is two and a half years old Ragdoll cat, and just like all Ragdolls, he is a longhair cat with a soft and silky coat. Usually, it is a great feature but when it comes to drinking water, keeping an eye on all that hair staying dry takes lots of effort and skill. It is fantastic to see how he stands as far as possible from the water surface, just close enough to touch the water with the tip of his tongue. Of course, this is not the most effective way to drink, and maybe that's why it takes so long, but keep in mind that drinking water was just a half of his goals here. The other half, staying dry is equally important and he excelled in that as well.
