Good Samaritan killed in carjacking

Jonathan Adam Lecompte, 38, was a North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) employee who was killed on March 14, 2024 while trying to stop a carjacking in Lumberton, North Carolina. Lecompte was a witness to the theft of his NCDOT truck and was struck and fatally injured by the stolen vehicle after firing four shots at the carjacker.
