The Lord set Ezekiel down in the middle of a valley filled with dry bones and caused the prophet to walk back and forth among them. This period in Israel’s national history began with the Jewish Revolts of AD 66-70 and AD 132-135 against Rome. The Great Revolt and Bar-Kokhba Rebellion were the greatest catastrophes to befall the Jewish people prior to the Holocaust. The failures of both rebellions resulted in calamitous consequences for the Jewish nation and its people.
