☢️ Today is the 38th anniversary of the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant - the largest man-made disaster of the last century

After the explosion of the fourth reactor, a cloud of radioactive dust affected Ukraine, Belarus, the Russian Federation and part of Europe. The accident killed at least 4,000 people and exposed 8.5 million more.

The total radiation of isotopes released into the air amounted to 50 million curies - this is 30-40 times more than after the Hiroshima bomb explosion in 1945.
