We Barely Survived 1 Month in a Tiny Van in the Australian Outback

We Documented an Entire Month of Van Life in the Australian Outback. We endured extreme temperatures, terrible roads, a road train ripping of our solar panels, so were travelling with no solar power but we were determined to conquer the outback. We pushed on to the heart of the Australia: Uluru. Watching the sunset over such a special place made everything feel worthwhile. Beyond Uluru things took a turn for the worse and it was probably our most difficult week of van life yet journeying the backroads to Alice Springs, but the animal encounters and swimming hole made that low become the highlight of our trip. Then beyond we took a 4wd adventure to the geographical centre of Australia at Lambert, but with the clock ticking to get back to Adelaide within four days. This month was an emotional rollercoaster, plenty of dark days, but the highs were unbelievable, it has been the adventure of a lifetime, and we survived the hardest challenge we have ever set ourselves. ⤈ WHO WE ARE ⤈
We are Philly and Keely and we live full time in our tiny home on wheels Martha. After building our DIY home in a Citroen Relay camper we spent a year living on the streets of London before quitting our jobs only to be met with lockdown. Then we took our van further than she had ever been before to the very beautiful Turkey. Enroute, we stopped off in Spain for a few weeks where we experienced every van lifers worst nightmare, we were robbed and they stole all valuables in our van. But then we were back on our feet, fully MOT’d and back on the road through Europe before we experienced another vanlife nightmare... our van caught fire!! After the trauma of that we had a massive change of plan and made our way to Japan. We enjoyed a three-month Japanese Adventure and then got back to Martha for some new European Adventures. After an incredible three-month Scottish road trip, we packed up our van and headed to Australia for a new van life adventure! Here we bought and built our new van in only 30 days and then took him deep into the Australian outback and beyond!
