Nasho discussion on social housing rates rebates

Nasho hosted an online discussion with a group of social housing institutions (SHIs) and an expert on municipal valuations and municipal property rates. This was a response to many SHIs reporting that notwithstanding their being non-profit companies they were paying commercial rates on their property values, rather than that charged to public benefit organisations (PBOs), which is considerably less. The issue is critical for the viability of SHIs because commercial municipal rates is a relatively large monthly operating cost for them .
