Boye - Boye se ne boje

BOYE were a Serbian and Yugoslav rock band formed in Novi Sad in 1981, by Biljana Babić(drums), Jasna Manjulov(keyboards, vocals, lyrics author), Ljiljana Radaković(bass guitar) and Klaudija Gavrilović(guitar, vocals).

During the recording of their debut album "Dosta! Dosta! Dosta!" (“Enough! Enough! Enough!”) in 1984 in Zagreb, it happened that the record label wanted to transform them into a techno-pop band, which was inconceivable for the musicians, so the album was never released. A year later, their paths crossed with Dušan Kojić Koja, the frontman of the band Disciplina Kičme , who produced demo recordings for them and created the slogan for their first single with the songs " Ja hoću te" and " Kralj Dosade".

Under Kojić's influence, the band had maintained their original musical style and introduced rap vocal sections, and Kojić also played guitar on three tracks.

Their second album "78" , also in collaboration with Koja, was released by the independent Zagreb label Search & Enjoy in 1990. Due to the lack of a domestic market, it was promoted in Greece and Slovenia. The song " Ja sam radosna" from it was written by the renowned Novi Sad musician Slobodan Tišma( Luna , La Strada ), who also appears as a vocalist in that song.

Five years later, in the "Sing Sing" studio in the Netherlands, the band recorded their third studio album, "Boye se ne boje" ("Boye Are Not Afraid"). The album as a cassette edition was released by Metropolis Records and it was acclaimed as the best album of the year by the music magazine Ritam.
Some of the songs that made this album famous are " Gleglegledaj!" ," Moraću se boriti", and " Boye, O Ye(s)!".

The fourth studio album, "Prevariti naviku" ("To Trick a Habit"), was released in July 1997, presenting the band in a more modern musical direction than on the previous releases.

The band had their last performances during 2000. In the summer of 2000 they performed on the concerts organized by Radio B92, alongside Darkwood Dub , Obojeni Program and Voodoo Popeye .

After Biljana Babićhad a child, the band ended their activity.
