US President Joe Biden signed legislation authorising military aid for Ukraine as part of a $95b national security package. Biden also warned that Russia could launch a direct attack on a NATO nation if President Putin triumphed in Ukraine. However, the US and its European allies were united against the "brutal dictator", Biden said. Meanwhile, a Russian court on April 24 ordered one of Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu's deputies be kept in custody. Timur Ivanov has been detained on suspicion of taking bribes, the highest-profile corruption case since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The deputy defence minister is accused of taking a large-scale bribe, defined in Russia's penal code as accepting corrupt payments amounting to over 1 million rubles (over $10,500). Ivanov was detained on April 23 at work by the Federal Security Service (FSB) and will remain in custody until June 23. Watch the video for the latest updates on Russia-Ukraine war.
